Message From Father
Hi, thank you for checking out my podcast. I am a Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Missouri. I believe that life is the greatest adventure that we could be invited to pursue, and that Jesus Christ has invited every last one of us to seek this life that we may find it and have it more abundantly.
I grew up in a few different states, and believe I led a pretty average suburban American childhood. In other words, I have been blessed materially and yet recognize that there are a lot of areas where we can rebuild culture.
My own dreams have always been bigger than I thought realistic. But then, if you put your dreams far out enough, you don’t run into competition for a while.
I wanted to be an astronaut. None of the technical ways of pursuing that dream seemed to be my natural calling, but I hacked my way through college and graduated as an aerospace engineer and commissioned into the Air Force. Sure enough, I didn’t make it through undergraduate pilot training, but I was able to get enough of a sense of it to know that my dreams would not have been perfectly fulfilled even if I had made it beyond our physical atmosphere.
A little later while working for Boeing, I was invited to a vocations discernment retreat for the priesthood. The experience was loaded with the kind of adventuresome life for which I had been hungering. So I applied to and attended Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis, and was ordained in 2011. My bet on the priesthood has not been in vain. I have discovered the love of Christ and His people are the adventure at the heart of Church ministry.
I love books written by G.K. Chesterton and C.S. Lewis, and movies by Christopher Nolan. My favorite vacation involves walking the Katy Trail on pilgrimage from church to church in imitation of the pilgrims in Poland on the way to the Black Madonna.
Thank you again and may God bless you and be your Strength!
